At the meeting of the Collegium, the Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Land Improvement, K. Tashtanaliev, made an opening remarks. A detailed report "On the results of financial and economic activities for the third quarter of 2017 and on the tasks for the completion of 2017 as a whole" was delivered by the Deputy Director General - Zhusumatov E. Zh. After that, the heads of the River Basin Irrigation Departments submitted their reports according to the presented agenda.
In his speech, the Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Land Improvement, K. Tashtanaliev, noted that in 2017, in comparison with the previous year, irrigation water was delivered in time, moreover, over 450 million m3 were supplied, which is 240,000 ha more irrigated land was irrigated, while also noted other successes. Despite this, one of the most problematic issues, what was drawn attention to - is the issue of credit repayment by water user associations, for which it is necessary to work closely between the Department and the WUAs and work on amendments to WUA legislation.
At the same time, it was noted that the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic pays much attention to the water sector, it is interested in donors and foreign investors in making investment contributions, therefore, the heads of the river basin irrigation departments are assigned to work hard on the local level.
In conclusion, the results of the work for 9 months of 2017 were summed up, however, some shortcomings were indicated and a requirement was put forward to eliminate them and complete fulfillment of planned works by the end of this year.
