The seventeenth meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Policy Dialogue in the Kyrgyz Republic was held

On January 30, 2018, the seventeenth meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Policy Dialogue of the Kyrgyz Republic was held on integrated water resources management.

Representatives of ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, international and donor organizations have participated in the work of the seventeenth meeting of the Steering Committee. The Dialogue was chaired by the Deputy Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Land Improvement of the KR - Koilubaev A.K.

Welcome remarks were presented by:

  • Ms. Charlotte Adrien, Delegation of the European Union in Kyrgyzstan.
  • Ms. Natalia Nikiforova, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
  • Mr. Alexander Murtasevich, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
  • Mr. David Meerbach, World Bank

The meeting has considered issues on the Protocol on Water and Health in Kyrgyzstan, where it was noted that there had been significant progress in work on the results of the inventory of target indicators. The progress in the implementation of the projects of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development which carried out within the framework of the FinWaterWEI-II program and aimed at improving the level of water security of the Kyrgyz Republic has been recognized.

The Chairperson of the meeting has separately expressed his gratitude to the USAID-CAREC project "Water, education and cooperation" for a tangible contribution. Also, information on new project "Successful aimak" was heard.

The participants of the meeting have noted with gratitude the organizational and financial support of the World Bank "National Water Resources Management Project" in holding the meeting. It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Policy Dialogue in Kyrgyzstan on integrated water resources management in autumn 2018 in Bishkek.
